(කියවීමට පෙර ****කාලකන්නිකමට රසයක් ඇති නම් එය බන්දේසියක තබා ඔබ වෙත පිළිගැන්විය හැකි ගත්කරුවෙකි හේ. උපුටා ගත්තේ "ජීව බශාව" සංස්කාරක "ඊ ආර් එරත්න", පොත දුන්නා මා මිතුරු මාරයා ***) වික්ටර් කොස්වින්න සවිසි වියෙහි සිටි තරුණයෙකි. අමුපතනේ අලුතෙන් පිහිටුවන ලද උප තැපැල් කාර්යාලය භාරව පැමිණි වික්ටර් කොළඹ ඉපිද කොළඹම ඇති දැඩි වූ නාගරිකයෙකි. එහෙයින් අමුපතනය වැනි පිටිසරක් ඔහුගේ සිත් නොගැනීම පුදුමයක් නොවේ . අමුපතනේ ගැහැනුන් පිරිමින් වත් ඔවුන්ගේ සිරිත් විරිත් වත් වික්ටර් ගේ සිත් නොගත්තේය. ඔවුන්ගේ කතාබහ අහනා ඔහුට ඉසේ ඇම්ම හැදෙන්නේය. වික්ටර් ගොඩට ගත් මාළුවෙකු මෙන් , දියට ලු බලලෙකු මෙන් අමුපතනයන්ට සොසැසදී අමාරුවෙන් කල් ගෙවයි. අමුපතනය අමුම අමු පිටිසරකි. මෙහි උප තැපැල් කාර්යාලයක් පිහිටුවන ලද්දේ අනා චෙට්ටියාර් ට අයිති විශාල කොහු මෝල් මෙගම ඇති නිසාය. ඔහුගේ බලවත් වුවමනාව පිට තැපැල්පොල පිහිටුවාගත්තා මිස, අමුපතනයන්ට තැපෑලකින් ඇති වැඩක් නැත. ඔවුන්ගෙන් කිසිවෙකු ගමින් පිටට ගිය බවක් අමුපතනයේ ඉතිහාසයෙන් සොයා ගත නොහැක. එහෙයින් අමුපතනයන්ට ගමේ තොරතුරු කියා පිටතට ලියුමක් ලියන්ටවත්, පිටත තොරතුරු

Pasht, for his part, regarded Martini as a useful piece of household furniture.
